چکیده

Background: We aimed to determine the effect of periurethral cleaning before catheterization using chlorhexidine and povidone-iodine on bacteriuria pyuria. Methods: This study was a single-blind clinical trial sample selected by convenience sampling. Demographic questionnaires were completed, patients randomly divided into two groups) 36 each Minimization Software based confounding variables including age, consciousness level, triage nutritional status, underlying disease. The areas cleaned with given antiseptics catheterized standard sterile procedures. Then, specimens taken for urinalysis urine culture immediately, 72 hours, five days after catheterization. rate, pyuria number microorganisms determined through examinations. Data analysis conducted SPSS version 19. Results: There no statistically significant difference in rate between groups immediately (P = 0.76), hours 0.22), 0.50) positive not significantly different However, it higher group 0.03) 0.004) Mann-Whitney test compared mean at times. showed 0.93), 0.43), 0.61) Conclusions: Due lower side effects than povidone-iodine, is suggested that similar studies be performed other hospital wards more stable obtain results.

Chlorhexidine-Alcohol versus Povidone-Iodine for Surgical-Site Antisepsis.

BACKGROUND Since the patient's skin is a major source of pathogens that cause surgical-site infection, optimization of preoperative skin antisepsis may decrease postoperative infections. We hypothesized that preoperative skin cleansing with chlorhexidine-alcohol is more protective against infection than is povidone-iodine. METHODS We randomly assigned adults undergoing clean-contaminated surg...

Chlorhexidine and alcohol versus povidone-iodine for antisepsis in gynecological surgery.

BACKGROUND Surgical site infections (SSIs) cause severe morbidity and are associated with tremendous health costs. Skin antisepsis (cleansing) with chlorhexidine and alcohol solutions has demonstrated superiority to povidone-iodine in a variety of surgical interventions. Our objective was to determine if chlorhexidine and alcohol antisepsis protocol reduces the rate of SSIs in elective gynecolo...

Chlorhexidine Versus Povidone Iodine in Bacterial Contamination Rate of Needles Used for Spinal Anesthesia

Skin antisepsis prior to the induction of spinal anesthesia is essential because of the potential for infectious complications. Povidone-iodine is a widely used antiseptic solution for skin preparation before spinal anesthesia, and chlorhexidine alcohol solution is a commonly used alternative to povidone-iodine. Previous studies have shown that chlorhexidine is more effective than povidone-iodi...

Pyuria and bacteriuria.

Urinary tract infection in childhood has long been recognized as a far from benign condition, yet the criteria for diagnosing such a condition are by no means uniform. While the final diagnosis rests on bacteriological evidence, the interpretation of significant bacteriuria in paediatric practice is particularly difficult. Various screening tests have been designed of which urine microscopy in ...
